"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
-Benjamin Franklin
The easiest way for you to succeed in this classroom, as well as many avenues of life, will be to follow a uniform set of procedures. Classroom procedures will let you know exactly how you should act and work in this classroom. Your success and our classroom environment will depend on the following rules & procedures:
Be Prompt, Prepared, Positive and Polite
Always remember:
There are no dumb questions or dumb answers.
Teasing, bullying, put downs and sarcasm are not allowed.
No one is Perfect!
Keep asking until you really understand.
This is a place to take risks and learn from mistakes.
It's OK to say "I Don't know".
1. When the bell rings you need to be in your seat prepared with all of your materials for the day. Complete the bellwork as soon as you enter.
2. You should have a silent reading book everyday. Your book needs to be a novel, not a magazine or newspaper.
3. Be sure you always have paper pencils and pens with you.
4. I will dismiss you, not the bell. When the bell rings everyone should be in their seat, quiet and the classroom should look like it did when you came in.
5. When working independently in class, you are expected to work quietly and on your own. The classroom should be a safe place to work and concentrate.
6. You should raise your hand to be called on. Please do not yell out!
7. When I or anyone else is speaking to the class, you should be respectful and listen.
8. If you are absent, you will need to see me before or after school. You will be held accountable for any missing work while you were out.
9. walking as a class. We will walk as a class to and from the library, assemblies and fire drills. We will walk in two straight lines, quietly and quickly to our destination.
10. If you finish early and have your completed assignment on your desk for me to review, you may then work on any one of the following assignments: review your work, read silently, complete other class assignments or ask to view any of my materials.
Disciplinary Procedures:
1st offense- warning
2nd offense- parent notification
3rd offense- detention
4th offense- office referral
* This procedure may be altered according to the severity of the offense
As long as we follow these class rules and procedures...we should have a great year!
